At Golden Years Haven, we provide a loving and caring home for senior dogs who have been abandoned or have little chance of adoption. Our mission is to give them a safe haven where they can thrive and enjoy their golden years. Last summer we stood together and made promises, not only to each other, but to the six dogs who stood beside us. Every one of them had a story. Every one of them had gray in their muzzle or scars you couldn’t see. Including them in our wedding wasn’t a theme or a novelty, it was simply the most honest way to reflect who we are and what we believe. Our dogs weren’t guests, they were not accessories, they are family! The dog-themed favors, the muddy paws, the quiet moments behind the scenes… they weren’t planned for show. They were reminders that love doesn’t arrive perfectly polished. Sometimes it arrives older, slower, and in need of patience. That belief became Golden Years Haven. What began as personal rescue grew into a promise: that senior dogs deserve dignity, safety, and a soft place to land, no matter where they come from or how much time they have left. When you support Golden Years Haven, you aren’t funding an idea. You’re supporting a life we already live. Every dog we take in is treated the way ours were treated on that day: with respect, inclusion, and unwavering commitment. If our wedding taught us anything, it’s this... Too often at animal shelters, senior dogs are overlooked in favor of puppies or younger, more energetic dogs. Many of these older companions are passed by without a second glance from potential adopters. That’s why Golden Years Haven was created — to give senior dogs the second chance they deserve. Our founder, a devoted animal lover, recognized the urgent need for a safe, loving sanctuary for these wonderful dogs who are so often forgotten. With the help of our compassionate team and volunteers, we provide the care, comfort, and affection they need to thrive. We believe every senior dog deserves to spend their golden years in a peaceful, loving home. By partnering with shelters and rescue organizations, we work tirelessly to ensure these dogs don’t spend their final days confined to cages. Together, we’re making a difference, one senior dog at a time. In addition to accepting surrenders, we also offer help for people struggling financially to provide their dogs with the proper care they need. Our preference is to keep these senior dogs with their owners. Some of these dogs' lives can improve drastically when provided with proper medications or diets.
