Who We Are

Neighbors Helping Neighbors stay Safe, Warm and Dry. We do this through essential home repairs and seasonal, supplementary heating assistance. CHIP, inc works in 11 towns in Central-Eastern Lincoln County, Maine: Alna, Bristol, Bremen, Damariscotta, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro, Somerville, South Bristol, Waldoboro, Whitefield. What We Do

1. Essential Home Repairs for Neighbors living in substandard housing. -- On the Second Saturday in September, community members spend a day making essential home repairs, helping with yard work and other odd jobs. -- Year Round teams of volunteers help make essential home repairs. -- Businesses and other groups can get connected with neighbors to help with yard work and other small projects. -- Contractors are paid to do highly skilled or complex repairs. 2. Window Inserts -- On the Second Saturday in September volunteers help build Interior Window Inserts for neighbors with drafty windows. We partner with Lincoln Academy High School. 3. Firewood and Heating Assistance --Volunteers process firewood. Training and safety gear required for chainsaw use. --Volunteers deliver firewood Oct-March to heat-insecure neighbors. --Volunteers, including local students, stack firewood, so we can offer a dry, ready to use product. 4. Board of Directors -- Help maintain the program, behind the scenes, writing grants, fundraising, writing letters to the editor, researching insurance and providing guidance in running a non-profit.
