Who We Are

Maine Maritime Museum has a dedicated and enthusiastic corps of ~200 volunteers, who do everything from greeting and orienting guests to providing interpretive tours to working in our grounds and gardens. There's a way for anyone to volunteer their time and skill with the museum, and community-building volunteer events throughout the year to celebrate this great group of people. Maine Maritime Museum's elected Volunteer Council helps represent the interests of our many volunteers.

What We Do

Maine Maritime Museum connects people to the past, present, and future of Maine’s waterways and their global reach. Our vision is to be a leading cultural institution and community pillar. As active stewards and educators of history and culture, of our historic site, and of our collections, we strive to inspire an ever-growing audience to experience the local, regional, and global stories of Maine.
