The Meals from the Heart program is an integral part of our mission to make RMH feel like a “home away from home” for families with children receiving medical treatment in the area. We try to provide dinner every night for the families staying here; this is largely done with volunteer power To become a Guest Chef we just need an application, confidentiality agreement, and background check, which can be found on our website. Volunteers purchase ingredients then come to the House on their chosen date and prepare the meal in our kitchen (which has pretty much everything you’d need in terms of cookware). Groups are great, but should be limited to 8 people just because of the size of the kitchen. Dinner is served at 6:00pm, and if you choose to do breakfast on the weekend that is at 9:00am. Plan on feeding approximately 15 people (and just about anything goes—casseroles, BLTs, breakfast for dinner, tacos, BBQ, etc.). We encourage you to come by beforehand for a tour of the House and to familiarize yourself with the kitchen, or you can also just come in a little early on your Meals from the Heart date to look around the kitchen.
