Digital access is essential for education, employment, healthcare, civic participation, and community wellbeing. The YWCA Central Maine seeks a Digital Navigator (DN) to help reduce barriers to digital access in our community by supporting individuals in accessing technology, building digital skills, and connecting to the internet and online resources.
The DN will work directly with community members in our Connectivity Hub to provide one-on-one assistance with devices, connectivity, online platforms and resources, and digital literacy. This role is both technical and relational. The DN will assist individuals with computer basics, internet navigation, accessing community services, and digital safety and security. The ideal candidate is patient, responsive to people from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds, and committed to community engagement.
Direct Community Support Provide support with: Device setup (cell phones, laptops, tablets, iPads) Email creation and management Accessing telehealth, school portals, job applications, and public benefits online Online/digital safety, security, privacy basics Troubleshooting basic technology challenges Printing services Basic computer skills, such as: use of internet browsers/search engines, file management (saving, organizing, creating folders), use of software (Microsoft Office) and applications (Google Suite), use of external devices (USB, etc.) Digital Literacy Education Help facilitate our beginner-friendly workshops (e.g., basic internet safety & security, basic digital skills, etc.) Adapt approaches to meet varying literacy and language levels Outreach & Partnerships Help maintain the Connectivity Hub calendar, daily schedule & communications to local Hub partners Support outreach and marketing efforts to ensure community awareness of available services Track community needs Administrative Support Track participation data Gather community testimony as to how the Hub serves them Assist with grant reporting
